Cal Poly recently honored 10 faculty and staff members for service excellence in the classroom and for their support roles at the university.
“These awards recognize and celebrate Cal Poly’s dedicated faculty and staff who play a pivotal role in the success of our students and our Learn by Doing experience,” said President Jeffrey D. Armstrong. “Our faculty and staff are the reason Cal Poly remains a top choice for our students who go on to become leaders and innovators in their respective fields.”
‘Filipino Love Stories’ Online and Traveling Exhibit

Cal Poly and the nonprofit agency Cal Humanities collaborated to present the online and traveling exhibit “Filipino Love Stories” — an exploration of how early Filipino migrants (1920 to 1970) to California’s Central Coast experienced marriage, love and family.
Becoming California Documentary

Cal Poly will host a screening of the newly released documentary “Becoming California” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in Spanos Theatre on campus. The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Producer/Director Kit Tyler and Executive Producer Jeffrey White.

Cal Poly History Professor Molly J. Loberg was awarded the History Article Prize by The Berkshire Conference of Women Historians, the oldest and largest association for female historians in the country, for her publication “The Streetscape of Economic Crisis: Commerce, Politics and Urban Space in Interwar Berlin.”

The Bakari Mentoring Program at Cal Poly has been chosen for the final round of the inaugural Your Favorite Charity contest sponsored by KSBY and PG&E.
The Bakari program is one of 22
finalists in the running to
win the $10,000 prize.
The program was one of 22 selected by a panel of judges from about 123 nominations. The public can vote for the organization most deserving of the $10,000 grand prize at ksby.com through Friday, Aug. 1.
