Music Department Announces 2014-15 Events
The Cal Poly Music Department's new season kicks off at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, with an ensemble showcase featuring the Cal Poly Arab Music Ensemble, Cal Poly Choirs (PolyPhonics and The University Singers), Cal Poly Symphony, University Jazz Band I, and the Cal Poly Wind Ensemble.
The Parent and Family Weekend Ensemble Showcase Concert — scheduled as part of Cal Poly's Parent and Family Weekend -- will be emceed by Music Department Chair W. Terrence Spiller in the Performing Arts Center. More events — including several free ones — will follow in the fall. They include:
- Oct. 25 - Faculty Chamber Recital
- Nov. 22 - Arab Music Ensemble Fall Concert
- Nov. 23 - Bandfest 2014!
- Dec. 5 - Fall Jazz Concert
- Dec. 6 - Choirs' 'A Christmas Celebration'
- Dec. 7 - Symphony Fall Concert with Ciera Lamborn, soprano, and Christopher Campbell, tenor

Tickets to the Oct. 24 ensemble showcase are $12 and $14 for the public and $9 and $12 for senior citizens and students. Event parking is sponsored by the Performing Arts Center. Tickets are on sale at the Performing Arts Ticket office between noon and 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. To order by phone, call SLO-4TIX (756-4849).
A 10 percent discount is given to patrons who buy season tickets to four Music Department events through the Performing Arts Ticket Office; a 15 percent discount is offered on tickets to five or more events.
All events are sponsored by Cal Poly’s Music Department and the College of Liberal Arts. Several are co-sponsored by the Instructionally Related Activities program.
