The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning 1996 rock musical that forever changed American theatre returns two decades later to speak to audiences across the world. The re-imagining of Puccini’s “La Boheme” follows a year in the life of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams in New York’s City’s East Village. This musical is only suitable for ages 13 and up.

Bach Week with the Music Department

The Music Department will celebrate Bach Week, an annual celebration of composer Johann Sebastian Bach, this week. The department will host daily events throughout campus, ranging from collaborative musical performances to lectures on Bach’s life and influence from both Cal Poly professors and guest musicians. Russian and German Conversation Tables Now Open

The German Conversation table will be open every other Thursday beginning Thursday, Jan. 19, and ending Thursday, March 16, from 11:10 a.m. to noon in the faculty fishbowls near Julian’s Café in Kennedy Library. The Russian Conversation table will be open every other Thursday beginning Thursday, Jan. 26, and ending Thursday, March 9, from 11:10 a.m. to noon in the same location.

Cal Poly Art Gallery to Feature Retrospective of Michael Miller Jan. 12 – Feb. 10

Cal Poly's University Art Gallery is proud to present the work of Michael Miller, former Art and Design Department faculty member. In 2012, Miller was diagnosed with brain cancer, and over the next two years, the tumor affected the area of the brain responsible for language, yet he continued to draw and paint with great detail. Miller passed away in 2014. These never-before-exhibited sketchbooks will be on view during this time.
The University Art Gallery is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The gallery is located in the Dexter Building (No. 34). More information here.

Seeking Nominations for Outstanding Staff Award

Staff employees, faculty members and department or division heads are encouraged to submit nominations for the Outstanding Staff Award for the 2016-17 academic year. The deadline to submit a nomination is Friday, Feb. 10. To be eligible, nominees must be permanent, full-time employees, who have completed at least three years of employment as of Dec. 31, 2016, (10-month employees are eligible). Selection criteria and nomination form can be found on the Administration & Finance website.
