Art and Design Students Work on Murals for New Cal Poly Housing Community
A group of art and design students worked with San Francisco-based artist Strider Patton to complete 22 murals in the new yakʔitʸutʸu living community on campus.
Art and design seniors Alexa De Cardenas and Lauren Marshall and art and design junior Anita Velazquez were selected for the project.
The 22 unique murals were developed in collaboration with the Northern Chumash yak tityu tityu yak tiłhini tribe to reflect the flora and fauna of the land which each building is named after.
The murals were completed in about six weeks. Learn more about Cal Poly's newest on-campus housing community — yakʔitʸutʸu.
