Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies Major Interns at Disney
Fourth-year Liberal Arts and Engineering Studies Major (LAES), Ciera Dixon, spent Fall Quarter 2016 interning for the Technology and Operations department at The Disney ABC Television Group (DATG) in Burbank, California.
Dixon's responsibility as an intern was to create 360 video showcasing some of the services that the DATG can provide. Services include post-production work and distribution for ABC, FreeForm and Disney Channel. This was perfect for Dixon, as she hopes to have a career involving similar tasks.
"I would really like to be a part of the entertainment industry," Dixon said. "My dream career is to work as a production manager for film, television, or virtual reality content creation. This internship has really helped me get my foot in the door."
The LAES curriculum is engineered to allow students to take impressive internships that may require time off school.
"It is part of the LAES degree that a quarter is reserved for studying abroad or an internship," Dixon said. "It is the program's goal to provide students with the opportunity to gain global perspectives and real world experience while we are still in school."
Dixon plans to graduate in the Spring with her LAES degree concentrating in Industrial Engineering-System Design and Communications-Cinema. Dixon's senior project focuses on the creation of 360 video content -- a field Dixon says the LAES program is getting heavily involved with.
