Cal Poly Faculty Chamber Recital Set for Oct. 25

The Cal Poly Music Department will present a faculty chamber recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, in Room 218 of the Davidson Music Center (Building 45) on campus.

This marks the fifth year of chamber recitals where faculty perform masterworks of chamber music — both beloved gems and lesser-known works.

The concert will begin with Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Romance,” Op. 37, performed by Suzanne Duffy on flute and Susan Azaret Davies on piano. Duffy will also perform Claude Debussy’s “Syrinx,” for solo flute. The two will join again to play Georges Hüe’s “Fantaisie,” Op. 107.

The second half of the concert will feature percussionist John Astaire and guest vocalist Inga Swearingen. They will perform works by Mutsuhito Ogino, followed by “Oj, Savice,” a Croatian folk song, and conclude the program with Béla Bartók's “Summer Has Come.”

Admission is $5 at the door. The recital is sponsored by Cal Poly’s College of Liberal Arts and Music Department. For more information, call the Music Department at 805-756-2406.
