Cal Poly Brass Groups to Perform May 20

The Cal Poly Brass Ensembles, featuring many of the university's top brass players, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church. 

The concert, titled “All That Brass!” will include compositions and arrangements by such composers as Giovanni Gabrieli and Malcolm Arnold. Cal Poly’s Brass Quintet, Brass Choir, Tuba-Euphonium Choir and Trumpet Choir will perform. 

Highlights will include the Cal Poly Brass Choir performing both the “Irish Tune from County Derry” and an arrangement of “Florentiner March.” 

“The concert is sure to include stellar performances by our students, and there will be a few surprises along the way,” said Christopher Woodruff, brass ensembles director. 

The free, public concert will be in the sanctuary of the church at 1515 Fredericks St., San Luis Obispo. The event is sponsored by Cal Poly’s College of Liberal Arts and Music Department. For more information, call the Music Department at 805-756-2406.
