Campus Closed for Veteran’s Day
Campus will be closed Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veteran’s Day. See daily events in celebration of Veteran’s Awareness Week below.

CSU Student Research Competition Entrees Needed
Cal Poly will host the 31st Annual CSU Student Research Competition on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29, 2017. The College of Liberal Arts must submit its
prioritized list of nominees by January for Cal Poly’s preliminary internal competition in February. Because the preliminary rounds are so close to the start of winter quarter, please encourage students to think about preparing entrees this quarter. Spring
2016 graduates are also eligible. Specific dates for submitting proposals to the CLA Dean's office will be announced soon.

Veteran’s Awareness Week:

Staff and faculty members are invited to participate in a one-hour awareness seminar focused on the needs and concerns of military service members and student veterans studying at Cal Poly. Participants will receive a decal to display in their workplace to show that they are allies of Cal Poly’s student veterans.

Theatre and Dance Department Presents ‘COSI’

Spanos Theatre (Bldg. 44)
Lewis, a recent university graduate, is hired to direct a non-musical version of Mozart’s “Cosi fan Tutte” at a psychiatric institution. The play is set in 1971, and patients strive
to produce their show against the backdrop of Vietnam War protests. Learn

NSF Workshop: Social Facets of Data Science
10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 10-11

Kennedy Library, Room 111H
The workshop, supported by an award from the National Science Foundation's STS Program, will focus on the everyday work of data scientists and on ethical dilemmas facing the profession. The workshop approaches data science as an important and growing profession that sits at the intersection of the STEM fields and the liberal and creative arts. Participants include social scientists, humanists, artists, and members of the growing Cal Poly Science, Technology and Society community. Free and open to the public. Learn more


Veteran’s Awareness Week: American Legion Veteran’s Day Celebration
10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11

There will be a $5 all-American lunch in celebration of Veteran’s Day. Participants are encouraged to wear Cal Poly green.

Cal Poly Bandfest 2016: ‘American Masters’
3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13
Cohan Center, PAC (Bldg. 6)
The Cal Poly Wind Orchestra and Wind Ensemble will perform works by modern American composers, including John Williams’ “March of the Resistance” from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The Mustang Band will conclude the concert with performances from Rush and Queen as well as selection from the “Star Trek” films.
