Cal Poly Percussion Ensemble Polyrhythmics to Perform on Campus May 19
Polyrhythmics, Cal Poly’s percussion ensemble, will give its annual concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, in the Pavilion of the Performing Arts Center.
This year’s concert will feature a blend of styles, including full percussion arrangements of jazz-fusion drummer Bill Bruford’s compositions “Beelzebub” and “Hells Bells,” a marimba quartet by Australian composer Nigel Westlake titled “Omphalo Centric Lecture,” and Steve Reich’s modern classic “Pieces of Wood.”
The free recital is sponsored by Cal Poly’s College of Liberal Arts and Music Department. For more information, call the Music Department at 805-756-2406.
