H.P. Davidson Center
Cal Poly’s College of Liberal Arts is dedicated to fostering the growth of the performing arts in line with the university’s mission to provide a comprehensive polytechnic environment.
The Davidson Music Center has been the resource on campus for performance studies. The building has continuously adapted to meet various needs over the course of 50 years, but struggles to keep pace with the modern educational demands and requires substantial renovation and expansion.
Current plans for the Davidson Music Center redevelopment will double the existing space for the Music and Theatre & Dance departments. Providing a modern, streamlined educational experience for students, the new Davidson Music Center will house:
- Rehearsal and practice rooms
- Black box theatre
- Classrooms
- Studio spaces
- Labs
This project will better integrate Davidson Music Center, Spanos Theatre and the Performing Arts Center, creating a space that fosters engagement with all aspects of performance and state-of-the-art Learn by Doing opportunities.
