2023 CLA Career Forum

'Where Do We Go From Here?'

The College of Liberal Arts proudly hosts its annual Career Forum for Open House weekend. Titled "Where Do We Go From Here," the forum includes a speakers panel on careers for current and prospective students in liberal arts. The forum will be held 1-2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, in Building 26, Room 104. Come listen to and talk with CLA Career Advisor Laura Hunkler and alumni pursuing a broad range of successful career paths.

Nicole Mullikin

NICOLE MULLIKIN (Modern Languages and Literatures, '15)

Nicole Mullikin is an immigration attorney and owns the Law Office of Nicole G. Mullikin which serves clients worldwide. Mullikin’s practice focuses on cases based on filing for family members, waivers of unlawful presence and humanitarian statuses. She graduated magna cum laude from Cal Poly with a degree in modern languages and literatures with an emphasis in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese
and a minor in Asian studies. She went on to graduate top of her class from San Luis Obispo College of Law with a Doctor of Jurisprudence and a Master of Legal Studies. In addition to running her own law office, Mullikin is an adjunct professor at San Luis Obispo College of Law and an associate at the Law Offices of Kevin C. Gregg. She is happily married to her high school sweetheart, and fellow Cal Poly alum, Dean Mullikin (English, ’13).

 

William Mitchell

WILLIAM MITCHELL (Psychology, '11)

William Mitchell, aka “The Neighborhood Hope Dealer,” is an experienced San Diego-based licensed marriage and family therapist and business owner. As an African-American male and former collegiate athlete, Mitchell is passionate about collaborating with adult males and couples, particularly those of color. He started Mitchell Therapeutic Services to provide culturally competent individual and couples services for clients navigating male mental health, relational distress and life transitions. As a student, William graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology while being a four-year starter and captain of the football team. He credits his journey and development to experiences gained in classes like PSY 323: Helping Relationships and PSY 370: Intro to Clinical and Counseling Psychology.

 

Karen Garcia

KAREN GARCIA (Journalism, '15)

Karen Garcia is a reporter on the Utility Journalism Team for The Los Angeles Times. The team publishes articles that help people solve problems, answer questions and make big decisions about life in and around Los Angeles. Previously, she was a reporter for the San Luis Obispo New Times and a contributor to KCBX Central Coast Public Radio. As a Cal Poly Student, she was involved in the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and the student radio station, KCPR. Garcia graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism with a news editorial emphasis.

 

Jacqui Luis

JACQUI LUIS (Graphic Communication, '17)

Jacqui Luis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Communication, combining her love of business, technology and design. Luis began her career as a user experience (UX) designer in enterprise software and strengthened her skills to solve big customer pain points with good design. She is now a product manager at ServiceNow, working with their design system team to build beautiful products.
