2022 CLA Career Forum

'Where Do We Go From Here?'

The College of Liberal Arts proudly hosts its annual Career Forum for Open House weekend. Titled "Where Do We Go From Here," the forum includes a speakers panel on careers for current and prospective students in liberal arts. The forum will be held 1-2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, in Building 26, Room 104. Come listen to and talk with CLA Career Advisor Laura Hunkler and alumni pursuing a broad range of successful career paths.

Kendra Aronson

RACHEL BURGESS, Anthropology and Geography, '21

Rachel Burgess is an archaeologist with Applied Earthworks in San Luis Obispo, a cultural resource management firm. As a student, Rachel worked as a research assistant at the Cal Poly Archaeology Laboratory and was active in the campus community as treasurer and president of the Social Sciences Club. She also volunteered as an ambassador for the Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Minors Program and the Cal Poly International Center. She graduated in spring 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in anthropology and geography, with an emphasis on archaeology as well as minors in Spanish, Latin American studies, and ethics, public policy, science, and technology (EPPST). 

 

Buster Brown

KRISTIN LEE, Psychology and Comparative Ethnic Studies, '18

Kristin Lee is a Child & Family Specialist for Hillsides-Bienvenidos, aiding in family preservation by assisting intensive high-needs/high-risk clients with developing coping skills to process trauma/triggers and helping them implement independence and social skills to foster their socio-emotional development. Post-graduation, Lee completed a certification to become a domestic violence counseling advocate and then acquired a full-time position as a youth counselor in a residential mental health hospital. Lee graduated Cal Poly in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in comparative ethnic studies with minors in child development and women’s and gender studies. 

 

Ashley Stephens

BRANDON ROUL, Political Science '20

Brandon Roul is a first-year student at Stanford Law School, interested in practicing anti-discrimination law. He organized around issues of racial justice and community safety before law school and is currently serving in a number of roles. He is a first-year representative for the Black Law Students Association, an Articles Editor for the Stanford Journal of Civil Rights & Civil Liberties, a volunteer working on record clearance as part of the Project Clean Slate pro bono project, a member of the Stanford Law Association Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and an intern for the Stanford Center for Racial Justice’s Corporate Governance and Racial Equity project. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a concentration in pre-law and minors in ethnic studies, anthropology-geography, and French. 

 

Ashley Stephens

NATALIE STONE, Journalism '12

Natalie Stone leads the editorial team at Nice News, a daily email newsletter that features positive and inspiring news. Previously, Stone worked at The Hollywood Reporter for four years before transitioning to People magazine for a five-year stint as a digital staff editor. As a Cal Poly student, she was involved in multiple clubs and organizations including the CLA Ambassadors, Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Wildflower triathlon, and Cru — and interned at KSBY, Downtown SLO, and Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition. Stone graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and a minor in religious studies.
