Cal Poly to Present ‘All That Brass’ Concert May 26

The Cal Poly Brass Ensembles, featuring many of the university's top brass players, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the San Luis Obispo United Methodist Church.

Cal Poly’s Brass Ensemble and Trombone Choir will perform “All That Brass!” including compositions and arrangements by composers Aaron Copland and J.S. Bach.

Highlights will include Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” and a frenetic arrangement of Reinhold Glière’s “Russian Sailor’s Dance.”

“The concert is sure to include stellar performances by our students, and a few surprises will be added along the way,” said Christopher Woodruff, brass ensembles director.

The free, public concert will be in the sanctuary of the church at 1515 Fredericks St., San Luis Obispo.

The event is sponsored by Cal Poly’s College of Liberal Arts and Music Department. For more information, call the Music Department at 805-756-2406.
