COURSE LANGUAGE: The language of instruction is Spanish.


OUTCOMES:

According to the MLL Rhetorical Syllabus, SPAN 104 offers the following outcomes: competency in contextualized language situations including problem solving, role playing, past and future grammatical structures, additional work in grammatical order; more work on basic phonetics; cultural competency concerning basic poems and songs, the idea of cultural diversity, and traditions, customs, and Hispanic media. Students will be able to write a total of at least 1200 words in Spanish at the entry level competency.


COURSE CONTENT:

Cover the entire length and breadth ofAproximaciones al estudio de la literatura hispánica. These ten weeks are dedicated to a survey of the genres of poetry, prose, and drama. The course introduces concepts and practices of literary analysis in Spanish, and it features a survey of the history of literature in Spain and Latin America from its origins in 1000 C.E. to the present.


COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Class participation and attendance are required.
