Terry Jones looking over CA-MNT-2181

CA-MNT-2181was investigated at the same time as CA-MNT-910 by the Cal Poly team in 2002. The site was marked by a diffuse lithic scatter and two BRM outcrops. A total of 15 STUs was excavated for a recovery volume of 2.0 m3. Two of the STUs were excavated to 40 cm, but cultural materials were not found in any meaningful concentration below 30 cm. Thirteen of the 15 STUs did not produce any cultural materials below 20 cm, and the site as a whole produced only a very small quantity of cultural material that limited to chert debitage and one pestle fragment. No temporally diagnostic artifacts or dateable materials (such as shell or bone suitable for radiocarbon analysis or obsidian suitable for hydration analysis) were recovered. Because the deposit did not produce temporally diagnostic artifacts it is not considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
