Welcome
New For Fall 07
Fall 07 Advisors:
Stacey Rucas & Greg Bohr
The Social Sciences Department provides a broadly based, multicultural and multi-disciplinary perspective on culture, ecology, humanity, and environment. The Social Sciences Faculty is composed of geographers, anthropologists, and sociologists. The Social Sciences Club was founded in 1983 to provide opportunities for students to learn more about these disciplines through informal social and scholarly get-togethers. The club is run by students under the guidance of Faculty Advisors. Recent activities include kayaking on Morro Bay, presentations by your Student President about his trip to Kenya, and information and presentations about abroad programs for Cal Poly at Sea, Thailand, London and Peru.
In the coming year, Stacey and Greg will help students chart a new course for club events and will institute a return of the infamous Wednesday Night Lives (soon to be renamed to Tuesday or Thursday Night Lives - but more on that later). Events planned for the 2007-2008 Academic year include a Welcome Back Barbecue at the Keese Bungalow in Avila Beach, informal presentations on research projects by students and faculty, Open House, Holiday Party with the Jones, and much more!
