Welcome!

You have entered my academic home page where you will find a little information about me and Cal Poly, and more information about the courses that I teach. First, let me introduce myself.

I am Professor Emeritus of Communication in the Communication Studies Department at California Polytechnic State University [Cal Poly], San Luis Obispo, CA., 93407 USA. I was awarded B.A. and M.A. degrees from San Jose State University, CA., U.S.A., and a Ph.D. in Communication from Michigan State University. I do research in intercultural communication, mass media effects, and what ever suits me. I am co-author of the 3rd edition of Communication Research (Allyn and Bacon Publishers). I have been an associate editor of a variety of communication research journals including The Western Journal of Communication. Among other awards, I received the "Teacher of the Year" award from the College of Liberal Arts student council , and I previously received the "Outstanding Scholar Award" from the Intercultural Communication Division of the National Communication Association.

I have been on the faculty at San Jose State University; University of California, Davis; University of Pacific; University of Georgia; and I am currently sitting here at Cal Poly.
