- Using maps 9.1, 15.1, 16.2 in Findley-Rothney and 54, 55
in Hammond, locate and identify the following newly sovereign countries. Develop
a key to indicate from whom they acquired their independence. (Refer to Map
I). Korea (North and South), Philippines, Indonesia,
Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Burma (Myanmar), India, Pakistan (East
Pakistan=Bangladesh after 1971), Israel (including occupied territories after
1982), Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Kuwait.
- In addition, locate Afghanistan, Thailand, The Peoples Republic
of China, The Republic of China (Taiwan), Japan, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
- Locate and label: Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, Sea of Japan,
East China Sea, and the South China Sea.
