MAP VI: 15 POINTS

DECOLONIALIZATION IN ASIA AFTER WORLD WAR II: Use the blue-white Outline Map of Asia to be purchased from El Corral.

  1. Using maps 9.1, 15.1, 16.2 in Findley-Rothney and 54, 55 in Hammond, locate and identify the following newly sovereign countries. Develop a key to indicate from whom they acquired their independence. (Refer to Map I). Korea (North and South), Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia, Burma (Myanmar), India, Pakistan (East Pakistan=Bangladesh after 1971), Israel (including occupied territories after 1982), Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Kuwait.
  2. In addition, locate Afghanistan, Thailand, The Peoples Republic of China, The Republic of China (Taiwan), Japan, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
  3. Locate and label: Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, Sea of Japan, East China Sea, and the South China Sea.
