Using Findley-Rothney map 10.3, and Hammond 52, locate and label the post-1945 boundaries of the USSR, Rumania, Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Austria, Italy, The Federal Republic of Germany (West), The German Democratic Republic (East), Poland, Czechoslovakia and Finland. The heavy black line on your outline map signifies the "Iron Curtain."

Locate and identify by name (where indicated on map 10.3) those areas acquired by the Soviet Union since 1939. Identify the German territory ceded to Poland. Indicate which of these countries had Communist governments until after 1989. (Soviet satellite states were, of course, Communist.) Note that there are countries not considered to be "behind the Iron Curtain" and therefore not Soviet Sattelites, that were, nevertheless, Communist.
