My name is Kathy Ryan and I teach and conduct research here at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.

I value an education more than just about anything else. I also believe that the cultivation of the mind is simply the highest calling a human being can pursue. One way to foster understanding about the world around us is to complement book learning with experience. In my courses I try to do both.
