Experimental Dilemma # 4
A researcher is interested in studying the effect of environmental stress on the performance of various mental tasks. The environmental stressor is the temperature level in the experimental chamber. The researcher selects three different temperatures (40, 70, and 95 degrees F) for the levels of stress to be included in sthe experiment. Since this is an experiment involving risk to the subjects the researcher employs male undergraduates to serve as subjects. The mental task selected for the first experiment is a choice reaction time task in which one of four stimulus lights comes on and the subject is to respond by pressing one of four buttons as qjuickly as possible.
