Psychology Educational Technology Resources: The Web Wiz Project

Introduction

Three survey questions were added to the end of the final examination for the course. In addition to the convenience of having almost all students available for testing, the end of the final exam was selected because it represented a point in time when all the course requirements had been completed.


Method

Following the last question on the final exam test booklet, students were asked to evaluate the web resources. Three questions were asked:

• How much did you use the Web Resources?
  
  
• Rate the usefulness of the Web Resources for the class.
  
  
• Any comments would be appreciated

The first two questions contained rating scales and the last question was open ended. Test booklets were collected separately and responses were anonymous.


Results

Of the 495 test booklets returned Spring 97, 412 (83.2%) contained responses to the use and rating evaluation questions. Students returned 82 blank test booklets. Four students made written comments only. Statistical analyses were done on the 408 responses.

	Almost 88% of the students used the resources in some way.
	Over 60% of the students rated the Web Resources as "Very Helpful", and only 4% rated the Web Resources as "Not Useful".
	Of the 119 overall comments, 60 were positive, 11 were mixed, and 33 were negative (15 were unrelated to the web resources). Click to access Sample Comments
