The following terms are Japanese words that express social and aesthetic concepts that are important for you to know. The term and its English equivalent are provided; you are expected to write fuller definitions and examples based upon the lecture and readings. You will be tested on these. You will also be expected to know some of the terms found in sections on Shinto and Buddhism and in the study guides. They will not necessarily be repeated. Some of these terms will be discussed later in the class. (Green terms were covered in the first part of the course.)
