As we are looking at Japan through the lens of its art forms, I will be using a number of films in the course. Some of the films will be anime and some not. All of these films are well known in Japan. Some of the films are available in Japanese only. I have made a translation of the transcript of the film for you. Please be sure you have read a copy of the translation before you come to class. Some of the films are readily available through video outlets in San Luis Obispo. You will have an assignment on the films and you will be tested on their content on the exams. We will discuss them
in class. The titles with an * after are films you can use for the assignment.
