The students will be expected to read the assigned chapters in the text before they are covered in class. Readings will also include material on reserve in the Kennedy Library.
The Marger book is the basic text for the course. Reader
Global Race Relations is a compendium of materials
to provide more details on specific cases studied in the course. These
readings will be tested on the Midterm and the Final.
Spiegelman, Art, Maus I and II, is the basis for the first Written assignment. You must read all of it to do the assignment.
Eriksen, Thomas. Ethnicity and Nationalism is the former text for the course. It is a good intorduction to the controversey over ethnicity and its relationship to nationalism.
