        GOALS:  The aim of this course is to familiarize the student with the basic approach of sociology to the study of humans in groups in comparative societies.  Students will be expected to know basic concepts and theoretical perspectives in the field of sociology, basic methods of social research, the names of important contributors to the development of sociology as a discipline and some of the important findings of sociological research in various areas as illustrated in societies around the world.
