The Cattery

Located behind the Cal Poly Veterinary clinic is the cat shelter used to house trapped felines. It is approximately x ft. with approximately square feet of caging. The caging can be sectioned off into five separate cages or lengthened into one long cage to hold up to five adult cats or fifteen small kittens comfortably. The cattery, which is renewed yearly as an officially licensed animal housing unit by the local department of animal regulation, is more than just a shelter for felines. Visited anywhere from twice to five times a day by volunteers who feed, clean and medicate, it also serves as a house of domestication. Feral and non-feral kittens, juveniles and non-feral cats are handled, played with, and talked to in order to be domesticated and readied for adoption.
