All cats up for adoption are guaranteed to test negative for leukemia and are given their full first year series of vaccinations and are spayed / neutered.

Behavior scales are based on each cat's individual response to and interaction with humans during their domestication phase in the cat shelter.

Behavior Scale

Friendly

responsive to human voice, but not so much to touch. Usually enjoys playing with humans and toys from a distance or with other cats.

keeps more to oneself or to other cats. Is sometimes responsive to human voice but not to touch. May play with toys but often not in near human presence.

Very shy and/or timid with humans.

Hides often, is not very responsive to human voice or to toys. Keeps to oneself or with other cats. Often will play in secret. May or may not exhibit feral qualities of hissing/striking or attacking if approached or cornered by humans.

Feral

Very scared and/or upset and feeling threatened when humans are in view. Is not very responsive to human voice. Maintains a definite "bubble of tolerance" which can result in being striked at and/or attacked if entered. Most will search first for shelter from threat (flight mode) but will attack if approached (fight mode). This behavior often accompanies good hunting instinct and these feral cats have often been adopted for ranch cats to help in rodent control.
