Paper Two
MLA format, 6 double-spaced pages minimum, and pseudonym
Successful students in this course should be able to recognize the cultural hurdles to understanding the French, the rich context that forms and continues to problematize "Frenchness," and the ways in which cultures can be misinterpreted and better revealed. In your second paper, you should demonstrate that you are well on the road to that understanding by focusing on one of the topics we have discussed in class since you turned in your first paper. Bernstein, Carroll and Platt should not be your only sources but should provide you with a platform from which to build upon, nuance and/or problematize the "culture/s of France" and be supplemented by research from at least two recent* peer-reviewed articles from academic journals.
You will be evaluated based on the effectiveness of your writing and your ability to analyze, criticize, and synthesize material.
