Grade Breakdown
Active Oral Participation (10%)
In addition to regular attendance, you are expected actively to participate in each class.
Final Examination (20%)
This will be cumulative: a combination of material you will have seen on midterms and of new material.
Midterms (40%)
These will each cover two chapters. Portions of the midterms will be duplicated on the final examination. Ask me about anything you may not understand. By thoroughly reviewing your midterms, you should be able to improve your final examination score.
Oral Examination (10%)
These ten-minute examinations will be scheduled for 16-17 March. I am happy to meet with you throughout the quarter to help you practice.
TV5MONDE / Podcast Project (10%)
You will select either a TV5MONDE program to view or a Radio France podcast to which to listen on a weekly basis. At the beginning of every week, you will submit a report in French of a paragraph or two. At the end of the quarter, you will compile your reports—plus corrections—and turn them in for a final grade.
Workbook Assignments (10%)
Self-graded assignments for each chapter will be due the day after we complete that chapter in class. Please use a pen/pencil of a different color to self-grade your assignments. The answer key can be found here.
