Curriculum

Students must meet a number of requirements in order to obtain a major or minor in Political Science. We strongly urge students to become familiar with them.

Major/Minor Requirements

All Political Science majors must take an array of classes that meet the course requirements for the major. For non-majors interested in minoring in Political Science, the department offers Global Politics (Dr. Anika Leithner Advisor) and Law & Society (Dr. Ron Den Otter Advisor) minors. For more information about requirements, see the Major/Minor Requirements page.  The current Cal Poly catalog lists the courses required for the Political Science major and and for each of the minors.

Concentrations

All majors must declare a Concentration on a particular area within Political Science. For information about Concentrations, see the concentrations page. For more information about declaring a Concentration, see the webpage of Betty Jennings, the College of Liberal Arts Academic Advisor for Political Science.

Senior Projects

Majors must complete a Senior Project, which is a capstone experience--such as an independent research project--that each student completes under the supervision of a faculty advisor. For more information, see our Senior Projects page.
