Bud Evans teaches Contemporary Global Political Issues, World Food Systems, the Global Environment, and Building Disaster-Resistant Sustainable Communities at California Polytechnic State University. He is a Member of the Cal Poly Disaster Management/Homeland Security Advisory Board, the Cal Poly Environmental Studies Advisory Committee, Faculty Sponsor of the Cal Poly Chapter of the Student World Assembly, and a Member of the Organizing Committee of the Cal Poly Chapter of Universities Fighting World Hunger.

Dr. Evans has a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California at Berkeley, and has conducted research in Kenya as a Fulbright Fellow and in Mexico as a Rockefeller Foundation Environmental Affairs Fellow. He worked as a Research Political Scientist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Kenya, and worked for ten years as the Executive Director of a regional community action agency in southwest Colorado.

He is currently developing a Consortium for Academic Exchange through Global Communications Technology designed to link academic courses around the world through videoconferencing; working on the development of interdisciplinary courses in Cal Poly's university-wide UNIV Interdisciplinary Studies Program, and developing Cal Poly certificate and degree programs in Disaster Management and Homeland Security.
