Philosophy at Cal Poly

 

The Philosophy Department at Cal Poly is committed to excellence in teaching and student achievement. We offer a Philosophy major leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree with an optional concentration in Ethics and Society. We also offer a Philosophy minor for non-philosophy majors. The learning objectives of the philosophy curriculum reflect the diverse research interests of our faculty and our commitment to a philosophical education with a strong foundation in the history of philosophy.

Religious Studies at Cal Poly

The Philosophy Department at Cal Poly also offers a minor in Religious Studies opens new window and supports a variety of events and activities related to that program.

The tentative list of course offerings for 2012-2013 is now available.

Ryan Calo—the director of privacy and robotics research at Stanford Law School’s Center for Internet and Society—will speak about robots, drones, and society on Wed., May 23, 2012. The event will be held at the University Union’s Chumash Auditorium, center stage (UU building 65, room 205), at Cal Poly. The lecture, followed by a discussion period, is open to the public and will be held from 10 am to 12 noon. See our Public Lectures page for more info.
