Noted Photographer, Filmmaker Henry Horenstein to Speak Oct. 25 at Cal Poly

Distinguished American photographer and filmmaker Henry Horenstein will speak at Cal Poly from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the Constructions Innovations Center (No. 186), Room C303.

Horenstein will show samples of his photographs and films while telling the stories behind the images. His work includes fine art and commercial photography, book publishing and, more recently, documentary films.

He has published more than 30 books, including monographs such as “Animalia,” “Honky Tonk,” “Close Relations” and “Show,” and instructional texts about analogue and digital photography.

“Honky Tonk,” a documentary survey of country music during the late 1970s and 1980s, has been presented as an exhibition at numerous museums and galleries, including the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, and The Annenberg Space for Photography.

Recently Horenstein has been working on short documentary films and is professor of photography at the Rhode Island School of Design.
