Elective Courses

To complete an Ethnic Studies Major, you must complete the 36 units of Required Courses and 40 units of Advisor-Approved Electives (in addition to your general education requirements, support courses, and open electives).

  • The first 20 units of Advisor-Approved Electives must be from courses offered by the Ethnic Studies Department.
  • The other 20 units of Advisor-Approved Electives can be chosen from Ethnic Studies-related courses offered in other departments.

The following list represents Ethnic Studies-related courses offered through other Cal Poly departments.

NOTE: This list is not exhaustive, nor is it official, and changes year to year, quarter to quarter. All elective courses used to fulfill the major in Ethnic Studies must be approved by an Ethnic Studies advisor. Please contact the Ethnic Studies Department for more information.
