2010-11 CLA Outstanding Staff Award Winners
The College of Liberal Arts announced the winners of its Outstanding Staff Awards at the college's annual end-of -the-year reception, held on June 2, 2011 at the Dallidet Adobe in San Luis Obispo.
Continuing Excellence
Lourdes (Lou) Greenberg was recognized in the Continuing Excellence category for her work in the Modern Languages and Literatures Department, where she has been the department administrative coordinator since 2001. Department chair John Thompson stated in his nomination letter that the most important aspect of Lou’s expertise "is not in the technical aspects of her job. She has a gift for connecting with people..." and, "...the definition of her job is to create a place where students and staff feel empowered and respected so that they can achieve the most they can during their time at Cal Poly." Lou's dedication and investment in the department helped pull them through a particularly difficult year.
Outstanding Achievement
Stephanie Murawsi was recognized in the Outstanding Achievement category for her work in the Journalism Department as the Mustang Daily's advertising co-coordinator since July 2009. As stated in her nomination letter, " Stephanie has really taken the message of Learn by Doing to heart. Her unwavering commitment to this student run newspaper’s success is evident in all of her actions. She isn’t just working hard, but is teaching and encouraging all of the employees to make the newspaper a success.”
