Cal Poly Debate Team Places Third in Cactus League Debate Tournament
The Cal Poly debate team of C. J. Young (POLS) and Nathan Giusti (CSC) placed third in Open Division debate at the inaugural Cactus League Debates, hosted by Arizona State University, March 18-20 in Tempe. In addition, Young received the tournament's Top Speaker award as the highest rated individual debater in the tournament's preliminary rounds. Young and Giusti won five of six preliminary debates in advancing to the tournament semi-finals, where they were upset by a team from UNLV.
The Cactus League Tournament was the final competition of the year for the Cal Poly Debate team. Results for the 2010-2011 season are posted on the Cal Poly Debate web site.
