26th Annual CSU Research Competition
College of Liberal Arts - Instructions
All CLA students are encouraged to participate, including graduate students. Research and/or creative activities developed as class projects, senior projects and/or graduate theses can be considered. Recent graduates (Spring 2011 and after) are also eligible.
Deadline for submissions to the College of Liberal Arts Dean’s office (47-31) is Monday, January 30, 2012. (Submissions will be reviewed and prioritized, and those selected will be forwarded to the Cal Poly Office of Re-search & Graduate Programs by Thursday, February 9, 2012).
A student may submit a paper abstract on any academic topic. Papers will be grouped for presentation in the following categories, which will also be used in the statewide competition:
- Behavioral and Social Sciences
- Biological and Agricultural Sciences
- Business, Economics and Public Administration
- Creative Arts and Design
- Education
- Engineering and Computer Science
- Health, Nutrition and Clinical Sciences
- Humanities and Letters
- Physical and Mathematical Sciences
- Interdisciplinary
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Please submit a completed registration form and a 5-page written summary of your research and/or creative activity.
The written summary/abstract of your research may not exceed five (5) double-spaced pages. Use fonts and margins that ensure legibility. Each copy must include the name of the student and the title of the presentation. In addition, you may add appendices (bibliography, graphs, photographs, or other supplementary materials) not to exceed three (3) pages. The Cal Poly CSU Student Research Competition will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012. Participants will make a 10-minute oral presentation to the Cal Poly CSU Research Competition selection panel. The 26th Annual CSU Student Research Competition will be held at California State University, Long Beach, on May 4-5, 2012.
