Summer Hiatus

The last CLA Weekly Announcements for the 2015-16 Academic Year will be sent next Monday, June 6. Announcements will resume in September.

The Living Library Exhibit to Close

The Living Library Exhibit on display on the Second Floor of the Robert E. Kennedy Library will be closing on Friday, June 3rd. Be sure to check it out one last time before then!

‘CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap’ Film Screening & Discussion

6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31

Spanos Theatre (Bldg. 44)

“CODE” exposes the lack of American female and minority software engineers and exposes the reasons for this gender gap while projecting what society would gain from having more women and minorities in coding. Music Department Student Production ‘RSVP XXI: Evangeline’

8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, May 31 – June 1

PAC Pavilion (Bldg. 6)

RSVP is a student production ensemble that will stage the multi-layered production “Evangeline.” RSVP is known for celebrating diversity and risk in composition and execution, and for the first time is producing a ballet. “Evangeline” is inspired by Longfellow’s epic love poem of the same name and superimposes the story into the political and religious realities of today’s Middle East. Learn more here.

 

Dogs at the Library: A Stressbusters Event

The Library Stressbusters team invites you to come to the library lawn and de-stress with the help of well-behaved therapy dogs.

 

Mental Health First Aid Training

12:30 – 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, June 1 – 2

Campus Health and Wellbeing Center (Bldg. 27)

Faculty, staff, students and community members can become nationally certified to support the campus community in responding to mental health crises. Attendees will learn how to recognize the signs of mental health and substance use disorders and implement a plan to assess the situation and provide help. Reservations are required. Attendees MUST attend both days of training to earn the certification. Training is free and includes lunch. Carnival Games with Cal Poly Stressbusters

The Library Stressbusters Take5 team invites the campus community to take a study break to play carnival-themed games at the library.

 

‘Mamma Mia! The Musical’ (Cal Poly Arts)

7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2

Cohan Center (Bldg. 6)

The smash hit musical based on the timeless songs of ABBA is coming to campus for one night only. ‘Mamma Mia!’ is fun and engaging. The audience is encouraged to sing and dance to the music. Learn more here.

 

Choirs and Symphony Spring Concert

The Cal Poly Symphony and Cal Poly Choirs will perform Fauré’s “Requiem” and a selection of the orchestra’s repertoire for its upcoming Central Europe tour,

Take It SLO Spring Concert

Mustang Band Celebrates 100 Years with Special Alumni Concert

3 p.m. Sunday, June 5

Cohan Center (Bldg. 6)

This year marks 100 years of band at Cal Poly, 50 years of collaboration with director of bands emeritus William Johnson, 20 years since the PAC opened, and 10 years with Christopher Woodruff as the associated director of bands and the director of the Mustang Marching Band. To celebrate, the Wind Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Alumni Concert Band will perform together. Learn more here.
