#IAmCalPoly Exhibit in Kennedy Library Ends Friday

The MultiCultural Center’s 2016 #IAmCalPoly exhibit in Kennedy Library (Bldg. 35), First Floor Community Gallery will close Friday, May 20. This exhibit is a collection of photos and personal narratives of students, faculty and staff, highlighting the evolving diversity on campus.

‘Manifest: A Male Movement Against Gender-Based Violence’

4:30 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 17

University Art Gallery (Bldg. 34)

The evening will feature live music, an interactive art exhibit, and refreshments. The interactive art portion will allow participants to display their own Polaroid portrait along with their manifesto against gender-based violence. The show's aim is to get more men to take a stand against gender-based violence and will be on display until May 20. For more information, please visit the Safer website.

 

Polyrhythmics Percussion Ensemble Recital

7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 17

PAC Pavilion (Bldg. 6)

Cal Poly’s percussion ensemble’s annual concert will feature “Ionisation” by Edgard Varese, a hallmark of percussion literature that features 13 players. Also on the program are Susan Powells’ “The Gilded Cage,” Alan Hovhaness’s “October Mountain” and a Bach fugue arrangement.

 

Cal Poly Stressbusters: Goats at the Library

Global Awareness Accessibility Day at Kennedy Library

Kennedy Library (Bldg. 35)

Global Awareness Accessibility Day (GAAD) is about getting people talking and thinking about digital accessibility and users with different disabilities. The Disability Resource Center, ITS and other campus units are partnering for assistive technology demonstrations, hands-on learning, experimentation, guest speakers and more. Thesis Coaching Clinic

Production of ‘Black Comedy’ Continues

In this madcap British farce, a lovesick artist looks to impress his fiancée’s father by borrowing art and antiques from an absentee neighbor. It’s the perfect plan until the lights go out! Gloria Velasquez and the ‘Superwoman Chicana’

Cal Poly Modern Languages and Literature professor Gloria Velasquez will discuss her work and its inspiration with Cal Poly English professor Robert Inchausti. This event is part of the Conversations with Cal Poly Authors series at the library. ‘An Evening of Woodwind and String Chamber Music’

7:30 p.m. Friday, May 20

San Luis Obispo Methodist Church

Several Cal Poly music ensembles will perform a variety of traditional and contemporary repertoire featuring woodwind and string instruments. The concert will include performance by a woodwind quintet, saxophone quartet, piano quartet, and clarinet and flute ensembles.
