Instructions for Self-Correction of Homework Exercises

I employ a system of self-correction for homework exercises, such as exercises from the end of a book chapter or from a workbook. These usually fall into the 'Assignments' category described on your course syllabus. These exercises will be collected and graded on a Pass/No Pass basis: Pass = completed according to instructions; No Pass = not completed, or not fully completed (yes, if you do nine exercises out of ten you will still get a NO PASS!!!! If you need extra time to complete an assignment, just hand it in late. Late is OK; incomplete is NOT.)

To receive a Pass grade, do the following:

1. Complete ALL of the exercises that are assigned (assignments are posted on the course website; I cannot return phone calls or answer e-mail asking for assignments; use the web page). PLEASE write legibly, and do not squeeze exercises tightly onto a page. Remember that someone has to check your work carefully, and has hundreds of papers to work with. Whenever you can type the answers to an exercise, you will be doing your grader a great service to do so. Usually, one of your fellow students is doing this grading for nominal pay; do unto others ...  Stapling multiple pages together is also very helpful. Your grader thanks you!

2. CHECK YOUR WORK against the key when provided - THIS IS REQUIRED. Occasionally, there may be no key for an exercise. In such a case, just complete the work to the best of your ability and hand it in. NOTE:
